Monitoring Checklist

What Businesses Should Monitor on the Web

A practical checklist of web assets, competitor pages, and third-party URLs that every business should have under active monitoring.

Most businesses under-monitor the web. They check their own site occasionally and look at competitors once a quarter. But the web changes constantly — prices update, pages break, competitors launch offers, vendors change policies — and manual review always lags behind.

Below is a practical checklist of what to monitor, organized by category. Start with your own site and one or two key competitors, then expand from there.

Your own website

  • Homepage hero copy and primary CTA
  • Pricing page — plan names, prices, feature lists
  • Signup and login page functional elements
  • Checkout flow — add to cart, payment form, confirmation
  • High-traffic product or service pages
  • Campaign landing pages tied to active ad spend

Competitors

  • Competitor pricing pages
  • Competitor homepage hero and positioning copy
  • Feature comparison or product pages
  • Promotional banners and active offers
  • Careers page (signals investment areas)

Partners and vendors

  • Partner pages that reference your product
  • Reseller listings (for MAP compliance)
  • Vendor status pages you depend on
  • Vendor terms of service pages
  • Integration documentation pages

Regulatory and compliance

  • Platform policy pages (App Store, Google Play, ad platforms)
  • Regulatory body announcement pages
  • Industry standard or certification pages
  • Legal terms from key suppliers or platforms

How to prioritize

Don't try to monitor everything at once. Start with the pages where a missed change directly costs revenue or creates a compliance risk. For most businesses, that's the checkout flow, the pricing page, and one or two key competitor pricing pages.

Once those monitors are tuned and producing useful alerts, add the next tier — brand compliance, partner pages, vendor status monitoring. Build your monitor list incrementally so you don't overwhelm your team with alerts before they've established the right response workflows.
